Lamentations on the Boredom of Tonal Harmony

or

Lost in the Sea of Nodding Heads

These haiku were written by my trusty sidekick, Jess Moore.
  1. It's metrically vague.
    Bach, a very special guy.
    See the hidden lines.

  2. Bach, a sneaky guy.
He throws up Es -- confusion.
    Sounds gross to me.

  3. Very typical.
    Write four doo-magiggies.
    Make the hidden line.

  4. Harmonic vocab.
We all want to be Herr Bach.
    Sea of nodding heads.

  5. An octave transfer.
    Too many motives for me.
    It is my nap time.

  6. Take some fiddling
    when composition is a
    democratic thing.

  7. Keyboard inventions,
    nifty little ditties
    written for Bach's kid.

  8. Theme and countertheme,
    motive and countermotive.
    It's naptime for me.

  9. Fugues: you do what works.
    The cadences are obscure...
    all the same to me.

  10. October, the month
    of invention madness.
    Not much excitement.

  11. It works, don't you think?
Being Bach is no easy thing.
    We love counterpoint.
